Colombian artist and photographer Pipe Yanguas has developed a distinctive visual language composed entirely of dots and lines to explore the invisible relationships that connect people, nature, and the universe. Working across painting, murals, sculpture, photography, video, and digital media, his practice is guided by a simple belief: We are all connected.

Born in Cali, Colombia, and based in Miami, Yanguas grew up surrounded by creativity and nature. He spent much of his childhood at his family's farmhouse. Working alongside his father in the family's jewelry business also cultivated an appreciation for craftsmanship, precision, and design. After studying Business Administration at the University of Miami and Residential Design at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, he pursued careers in business and design before ultimately dedicating himself to photography.

In 2007, Yanguas moved to Milan, Italy, to study photography at the Istituto Europeo di Design. After completing the program, he established an international photography career distinguished by his long-term documentary approach and his use of natural light. His work has included collaborations with international publications and fashion brands, including Vogue Italia and Vivienne Westwood.

Rather than documenting isolated milestones, Yanguas developed PHOTObiographies, long-term photographic narratives that follow individuals and families over time. Each evolving body of work becomes a living coffee-table book, preserving not only memories but also the relationships, places, and experiences that shape a person's life over time.

During the global pandemic in 2020, while spending time at his family's farmhouse in Colombia, Yanguas experienced a profound creative shift. Inspired by the intricate geometry of an insect he discovered in the garden, he created a drawing composed entirely of dots and lines. That drawing marked the beginning of Dots and Lines World, an ever-expanding body of work exploring the interconnectedness of all existence.

Within this visual language, each dot represents individuality, carrying the experiences, thoughts, and emotions that make every being unique, while each line represents the relationships that connect us. Repeated across paintings, murals, sculpture, photography, video, and digital works, these simple elements become a metaphor for the invisible structures that unite atoms, ecosystems, cities, cultures, galaxies, and human lives. His work invites viewers to reflect not only on the connections between people and the natural world, but also on our relationships with ourselves, our emotions, our thoughts, and the choices that shape who we become.

His work has been presented internationally, including at the 15th Havana Biennial, HistoryMiami Museum, the Jewish Museum of Florida, and DOMO Museo at the Biblioteca Departamental Jorge Garcés Borrero in Cali. His public murals and site-specific commissions can be found throughout Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, the United States, Spain, and the United Arab Emirates.
